Getting messages from games that I am not playing in

Starting from a few weeks ago, I frequently get chat messages from games I am not playing in. The games are ones where I was looking to play, but seemingly I was removed from the table for some reason before the game started. Sometimes, the chat incorrectly states that I left the table. Nevertheless, I receive all the chat. This is extremely annoying. Has anyone else experienced this?

sounds like an unwanted side-effect from using automatic mode and joining lots of different tables that you don't participate in...?

No it's not from automatic mode, I see the same in manual mode. I'm not sure it happens every time, but I get the feeling once you "visit" a table before it starts, you get all the chat from that table even if you leave it.

Yep. Happens to me a lot, too. I got used to closing a lot of chat boxes.

It even happens with tables I never interacted with in any way and I was afk all the time. Some friends just invite me to a table (put in my name) to see if I join and remove me when I don't. So I come back from afk'ing and close a chat box with a lot of chat for a table that I didn't even know existed and I never knew I was invited to

But I don't play arena, so maybe a phenomenon that was long-persistent in normal mode recently got into arena-players too?

So let my try to recap what i know:
- if you open (and not join) a table, and if someone talk/join/leave in chat the chat of that table will be open for all the bga tab open for you
- if you have the chat of a table open in one of your tab, and someone talk/join/leave that table, it will reopen for all your active tab
- if you join a table (without automatic lobby), the chat of that table will be open for all your active tab
- if you join a table (with automatic lobby), the chat of that table will be open if the game start or if someone of that game (so from non automatic lobby) talk in the chat game
- if you get invited on a table, that will open the chat of that table for all your active tab

And I think it's pretty much it.

That mean, if you want to leave a certain table, you need for ALL your tabs to: goes to any other page if the page is that game, and close the chat for all your tab. And doing so before any new thing happen in that chat.
That mean, if you got two bga page open, and you get invited on a game, you can refuse the invitation, then close the game, and when the game will start, that will reopen the chat game because the chat was still active in your other tab. Then if you leave the game in your two tabs, since the game start, there is a chance someone will said 'glhf' in chat, and so you will need to close those two chats again, before anyone else said 'hi' in chat.

It's the case for some years.

By seeking a game behind the scenes there is stuff happening at that table's chat box even if it hasn't started. If you are in automatic mode for game selection you won't see this because it doesn't show the chat window for the table, but try joining a manual game and you can observe the table dialog and see messages like "Meeplelowda joins the game 02:27 PM" and "Meeplelowda quits the game 02:28 PM" appear until the game finally fills. You have "quit the game" if you were in the queue while the game was waiting to start, then for any reason leave the queue (such as beginning a different game). If doesn't mean you actually quit a game that has started. "Joins the game" and "quits the game" are the wrong expressions, because a "game" has not actually started. "Joins the table" or "leaves the table" would have been more accurate, but such is life. Changing that language is probably very low on the priority of BGA bug fixes.

Sure, that is clear and fine. The things that I find odd are firstly that this behaviour only started quite recently, for me. And yet for other players it seems to have been happening for a long time. Secondly, why are these games starting without me? I'm just clicking on the game and waiting for a table. When it says that I quit the game, it isn't when I started another game in the meantime. If I was on the game table at some point, then why was I removed from it before it started?
