Power Up! not available?

Post by Tillzee »

Please excuse me if I am missing a very noob detail, I have searched the forum pretty hard...but ...am I correct in saying the 'Power Up!' expansion using the Evolution Cards is NOT available to play ?

Many thanks.

This expansion is currently in alpha testing.

There is no guarantee games make it from alpha to full release but I think with this one you can safely assume, once the bugs have been found, it will be available to play in the pretty near future - one to look forward too! :)

It takes quite a bit longer to develop a well functioning Power Up, as so many new card effects and thus mechanics are implemented at once. Bugs are bound to pop up more frequently than others, hence why it remains a bit longer in testing phases.

Awesome to hear!!! I'm pretty new to KoT. Played it first here at BGA and subsequently bought 2nd Edition IRL and am enjoying it very much with the family. Power Up! most def adds unique attributes to each monsters allowing for unique personal strategy's. A very positive addition to an already super fun game.

I can't wait to run it on BGA. Hats off to the devs and testers 🍻

You can ask for alpha access on the alpha forum ;) more testers means more bugs fixed before official release

Good to hear it's not just me, altough I went quite overboard. I did play KoT before two or three times in a gaming club, and also it's sister game King of New York once(sorry, not on BGA yet), altough KoNY was a bit too complicated for me at that time, or it was the person who taught me.

Ever since playing here on BGA, it's gameplay mechanics interested me so much I bought my first own physical copy... and am actively expanding my collection with expansions, promos, etc... I'll share pics soon in my home solution for an all encompassing organizer box, just waiting for a couple of more items before I feel it's worthy to present it.
And then it's up to me to wait till October-December for the new release of King of Monster Island.

Anyhow, i'm sure that adding King of Tokyo to the site has given a boost to the sales, IELLO should be proud of what Thoun has done here.

Sounds like you've been bit the KoT as much as I have. It's hard not to.

One thing I've noticed is that in some ongoing tournaments, for newly starting games the Evolutions option is activated, even though all previous games in the tournament did not have that option. Is that intentional, or a glitch? I would have preferred that all games in the tournament have the same set of options. (These are turn-based Swiss-style tournaments.)
