How do I know if a tournament has many simultaneous matches

Post by Godsmurf »

I've ended up in tournaments where I immediately had to play 10 group matches simultaneously, which I want to avoid in the future. Other times, the matches are played one after the other. How can I see on the tournament page how it's going to be before I sign up?

It looks like that information isn't displayed. You could avoid round-robin tournaments, which is the only type of tournament where all rounds can be played simultaneously.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll avoid round robin tournaments from now on.

Meanwhile I've found that all Round Robin tournaments have this 'problem' of many simultaneous matches, and no other tournaments do, so I know how to avoid them now. Thanks FSKFSK.

If you like the spirit of round robin (rotating matchups), try Swiss system tournaments. Because each round's pairing depends on the previous round's results in the Swiss system, you can't play all your matchups simultaneously.
