Can't view logs of other players in studio

Post by salty-horse »

I tried the new ticketing system but didn't find a suitable option for this, so I'm starting a forum thread :)

I'm currently developing the game Vidrasso in the Studio.
The game's designer is testing it, and has been added as a developer to the project.

He's encountering bugs, and I want to view the game session, but I don't have permissions.
For example, when I try to open https://studio.boardgamearena.com/1/vid ... le=TABLEID
I get the error:
Unable to find table database (1): ebd_vidrasso_TABLEID (reference: GS1 16/10 21:36:42)
(assume TABLEID is actual table ID)

Is it possible to get permission to view ALL sessions of the game I'm developing?
I don't understand why I'm restricted, since I'm the game's admin. Is this by design?

Thanks.

Notabug, studio is not meant for designers, only for devs. Ask to put the project to private alpha if you want to test it with non devs players.

Have you tried viewing the table through the game replay? On the studio game page, click on the number of games played to see the recently played games. I am able to replay your game's tables that way - it should work for you as well.

Seems like it's only "one dev at a time", rather than "only for devs".
I have a few more things to do before alpha. :)

Yes, viewing the replay works - doesn't give me access to viewing the SQL logs and such, but I'll manage.

Thanks!

I am talking about *private* alpha. Private alpha is meant exactly for this kind of situation.

Do I request a private alpha through the regular process for alpha?
It's still a bit buggy and missing a few things from the pre-release checklist.

There's a checkbox alongside the request alpha button to make a private alpha request. This button becomes available once you build a release. For a private alpha you don't need to check all the boxes for the pre-release checklist, this will be needed for public alpha.
