Cosmos: Empires is now in alpha

Post by SwHawk »

Hi everyone,

Cosmos: Empire, a game by Martin Brandel and published by Bigger World Games, that has recently been kickstarted is now available in alpha.

Here's a short description from the publisher:
Jump into the galaxy, choose your strategy, and build your galactic empire!

Race against your rivals, exploiting their economy to your advantage.

Construct galactic entities with powerful combinations in this fast and dynamic card game.

Cosmos: Empires is an engine-building card game. Each turn you roll the dice for resources, then build cards with your actions... But there's a twist!
You can trade in actions to shift the total on your dice, taking the luck out of it and putting your strategy in your own hands!

A new version of the game has been released with following changes:
  • IMPORTANT: the order of action buttons has been changed according to this suggestion: /bug?id=75100, button texts have been shortened. The end your turn button is now red to indicate that this is an action you should only use in certain circumstances.
  • Three new user preferences were introduced:
    • You can now chose between the regular BGA background and a custom Cosmos: Empires starry night background for a better immersion. The page will reload to take the changes into account. The default is set to the regular BGA background for now.
    • Action buttons can be displayed either in the status bar (as usual), directly on the card (only with icons though, due to the limited sapce available), or both. In the event you chose to display the buttons on the card, it will grow on selection and return to its original size when you unslect it.
    • Selecting the End your turn button will now trigger a confirmation dialog if you have either regular or buy mech actions, this can be disabled for experienced players.
  • Improved some game log messages:
    • the roll value is displayed at the beginning of the turn instead of each die value, the adjusted value has been added to relevant game log messages
    • during the production phase, there is now only one game log message for all the players instead of one per player, the information displayed stays the same
  • The adjusted value will stay on screen for roughly 3.5s after the player adjusted it for all players to see which value was selected
  • While adjusting the production roll value, all cards that don't share the adjusted roll value will become translucid while those who do will remain as usual so that players may directly see which cards are going to produce this turn.
I hope you will enjoy these improvements
