Is there a way to see the number of unique players for a game?

In the description of a game we can see the "Number of games played" and the "Number of players" suggested to play the game. But is there a place where I can see the number of unique players? To see the number of games played tells only a part of the story of how popular a game really is (there might be few people playing many times that game for instance).

I know I could find the total number of people who played a game at least once going through all the pages of the all-time rankings, but is there a faster way?

For an estimate, if it's a game you've played, you could look at the number of members in the "X players" private group, where "X" is the name of the game. The card results in the search page already list the number of members. For example, the "Warchest players" group has 1.9k members.

if it's only for a couple of game you'd like to know, you could try and ask the developer of the game. They have more detailed statistics. For example, Lucky Numbers has been played by 364.704 unique players so far.

Since I wanted to know the number of unique players just because I am curious about my relative rank, I didn't want to bother the developers just for a ego boosting thing. But if you are one, I am curious to know the unique number of players only of El Grande and Memoir44!

Anyway this method works fairly well, as for Lucky numbers I get 366,393 players in the group, and the exact number of unique players XCID provided is 364,704! Thank you for it! So now I am curious: how does it work with these groups, as soon as a player plays that game, is he/she automatically inserted into the "X players" private group?

Pretty much yes, Admins and developers get added automatically when the group is created.

And you can choose to leave the group. I'm not sure what happens with deleted accounts.

But if you want to know your relative rank, it won't help you, unless you manually check the ELO of every single player in the group. As I said, the "all time" rank refers only to players with at least one game in the last 2 months.
