Confused by new "splash screen" when starting game

Hi,

I'm a premium member and am used to starting a game. Lately, there's intermittently been a different "splash screen" (a whole bunch of dark background mish-mash) instead of the usual white streamlined interface. I can't figure out the user interface for how to limit the number of players or for making it a training game only. I just proposed a rematch for a game and it took me to this new dark "splash screen" and I couldn't figure out if the people I just played with were up for a rematch. I heard some "sound effects" that made me think they accepted a rematch but could not see in the ugly dark interface how to start a new game.

So 2 questions.

1. Can I just default to the regular interface?

2. How does this ugly new interface work? Can you put up some instructions?

I have to appreciate the irony that the new interface was intended to be and extensively tested to be more intuitive.

You can still start games in manual mode to tweak all the settings to your desire. You just can't do it from the new game page. You have to access it from the Play Now page. I virtually never use the Rematch feature, so sorry I can't help there.

The new game creation and join game features are a disaster. My entire group cannot seem to find our games when we set things up.
Why was this interface even changed?
It's virtually impossible to search for a game, set it up, and invite a group of friends from 1 screen anymore.

To be honest I'm as confused by the new UI. It also fails to remember that I prefers turn-based and always recommend real-time games.
