Question: is it allowed to announce real life tournaments?

Post by Jeronimon »

Hi,

I cannot find the answer to my question on BGA and none of the categories on the contact page seem to match either.

My question is this: is it allowed to announce real life tournaments for games to the community on here.

I am relatively new on BGA and started being more active when Memoir’44 was implemented here. Most of our players community are migrating over to BGA. Our community has been around a long time and we organise online and real life tournaments. Most of the real life ones in Western Europe and the US.

Since we started playing here I see a lot of new players that like the game but are unaware of the real life possibilities for Memoir’44.
I would like to announce our tournaments on BGA so those players too are aware of them. And could maybe join us.
The last ten years have shown us that digital gameplay and real life gameplay stimulate each other and expand an forward the community on both sides.

If someone has the answer or can point me in the right direction where to get my answer I would be very thankful 😎

I think the tournament below is a real life one...? And apparently nobody has any problem with it.

The tournament is not a real life one, but it doesn't use BGA's tournament system as it imposes some limitation that the creator doesn't want. So they're posting games for each week and players organise the table with their opponents during the week and post the results.

I think that you can announce real-life tournaments on the forums, though I'd guess the best category to use would be Discussions about board games, and not this one. To have a better answer you should contact one of the BGA admins who have final say about what is going on in the forums.
