Bring back Turn Based "No Time Limit + Friends Only"

The effect when you go out of time but don't get expelled is (a) you don't get the usual +1 karma for the finished game (b) you have a note on your profile with a clock-symbol for 60 days.

You do not get a karma-penalty or be considered having lost the game just because you were over the time limit. That happens only when an opponnent chooses to expel you from the game.

I think the effect on your chances to join games later (which some people have brought up as a big impact) is almost non-existent and people are a bit overreacting about some clock-shaped-pixels on their profile.

It is (potentially) a fairly big impact if the league you are in operates a policy of banning anyone who has a time-out record of more than 10% of their completed games over a specified period, as the one I'm currently part of does. Everything else you say, I agree with though, just wanted to add another (usually silent) name to the list of those for whom this change has been a distinct disincentive to use the site for non-league games.

I really hope they bring it back. All my tables are set up with no time limit + only my friends since I always play with my friends and sometimes one of us can´t move during a whole week...

There is a feature request submitted on page 7 to bring this back.

Also please bring it back! This has been my primary node of play ok here for years.

I strongly support bringing back Turn-based No time limit+ Friends. I often play turn-based games with Friends because we don't have to worry if one of us can't play because of ihs life situation. Moreover, gaining Elo makes me concentrate more and makes the games more intense than the training mode.

Bring it back, please.

If you are unable to do so, create more options. For instance...one move every 7 days or one move every 5 days....that does not fix this problem, but it makes your decision to remove our NO TIME LIMIT easier to swallow.

When you removed NO TIME LIMIT (for normal games) you didn't add anything to help us who still use it. NO, we don't want to use Training Mode and NO, we cannot use one move every 2 days unless you remove ALL PENALTIES

So far the Mods have replied a few times with the same statement about ELO and people getting "Trapped" several times a day.

No one is Trapped! You are warned several times "FRIENDS ONLY" and the fact you can't get out of the game. So....READ that and don't pick NO TIME LIMIT. It's pretty simple.
But now because BGA is only listening to them, the rest of us are being punished. We know the deal, if we pick No Time Limit, we are in the game for 40 days.

If BGA want to help everyone, give us (who want the no time limit) more options. Like one turn per 7 days or one turn per 14 days!

Adding my +1 to this thread (I had commented on the previous one) to bring back some form of a NTL option for all the decent and good reasons already mentioned ad nauseam. The lack of recognition/response to this issue is disappointing.

Another +1 here. This (friends + no time limit) has been the only way I've ever played games on here -- over several years at this point. It's a shame to see this gone.
