Single map tournament

Post by jeroenh »

Memoir offers a great way play many different scenarios. Each come with their own challenges, pros and cons.
BGA offers a great way to organise tournaments, with different types, matchups, et cetera.

The combination of Memoir and BGA tournaments does not feel completely satisfying though. Many Memoir tournaments are organised on the forum here instead.

I’m trying something different, single map Swiss tournaments. Let’s see how this goes with the simple Pegasus Bridge map. If it works well, we can do each of the official scenarios :D

I really like this type of tournament - but I would really, really suggest you start with one of the better scenarios. First one we did using this format back in the old "DoW" days was Operation Cobra, a good 5-medal map with lots of fun things to do.

Just my 0.02 DKK.

I don’t mind Pegasus Bridge. But I will probably avoid some scenarios 8-)

Great to hear! There's a lot more interest in this tournament than I thought initially, so I'm sure I'll do another one, and I'll put Operation Cobra at the top of my list then!

Playing the same map, over and over may get a little boring?

Anyway to set like 4-5 different maps that you rotate thru?

would love to do that, but that is not an option with the current tournament implementation.

Montelimar is a good well balanced scenario with both sides have all types of units and an opportunity to win or lose.

Alright, I've created a second edition of this tournament with Operation Cobra: https://boardgamearena.com/tournament?id=192074

I'll keep Montelimar in mind for the next edition.

It’s set to 5 minutes for each player?

And real time.
I am assuming Jeroenh wanted to mimick the former tournament?
