End of season Arena rules

Post by maxxius »

Dear everyone,

as the end of the arena season is approaching I was reading into the rules and got a very specific question on the following rule:

"If your turn based game is not finished at the end of the Season, the player who consume the most thinking time during the game will lose the game and lose Arena points."

How do time-jokers interact with this rule?

E.g. Player X started an arena game perhaps 20 days before the end of the season and goes on holidays during the last 2 days before the end of the season and uses 2 time jokers. Player X used more time than Player Y but has more time left over at the end of the season (4days left versus 2days left).

Also, how many arena points are lost in case of this happening?

Thanks in advance

As far as I know, the actual time waiting for the player's move is used. It has nothing to do with remaining time. Time jokers basically just increase the remaining time.

Even without time jokers, the player with more remaining time can have used up more time before, as the remaining time always is increased when the player has made his move.

What I think is strange is that the game is converted to a non-elo-rated training game together with arena point calculation for those non-finished games. Wouldn't it be better to calculate arena points (to prevent tampering with Arena rating by not finishing games), but keep the game Elo-rated so it is finished normally? I always hate it when you have a long running game, not quite finished before Arena season ends, and then one of the players just jumps out without penalty, making the whole game useless.
