Ranked Game with Friend, No Time Limit

Why is it impossible to play a ranked game with a friend and no time limit? This used to be the case before the new update (which i'm not a fan of). I've had multiple games of Memoir 44 going before the site update like this where i play with friends and no time limit. Sometimes it'll be days between a move, but now i can't choose that option. When we try to do unranked games with no time limit, the games get timed out for no one making a move. Ranting here. It's just frustrating.
