Arena: Why 5 levels?

Ok…. I am at platinum level #7 I need 3 more to make elite? I have won my last 6 matches and not moved up? What gives?
My ELO has gone up. But my plat level stays the same. But heaven forbid I lose a match… my plat level would drop like a rock like it did last time I made it to lvl 7 or 8. So how is the advancement calculated ? I stomp someone? No points just ELO. I barely win by the skin of my teeth and no points but ELO. I barely lose !!! I drop like a rock on a heavy grav world.

You are matching against players that are over 2 levels under you. You cannot gain when the difference is that big.

Then we should not be matched against players that are 2 levels below us...
A win should give you some Arena points no matter what the level IMHO

You are matching against players that are over 2 levels under you. You cannot gain when the difference is that big.

Then we should not be matched against players that are 2 levels below us...
A win should give you some Arena points no matter what the level IMHO

It does, but people are confusing arena points with leagues. The league is just some fancy addition, the only things that maters once you reach elite is the arena points that are hidden until then. Thèse points works exactly like ELO so you will always win points if you win.

OK so we are saying that a win should give us at least 1 league point or we should not be matched vs a player that is 2 levels below us if that's possible

If we only had 4 levels, you'd always win a league point. Right now if you're Platinum and beat Bronze, you get zero. But if there was no Platinum, just Gold then Elite, you'd always win at least one point. Other games have this arrangement.

You also have the possibility to set what level difference you agree to play against (sorry for french)
