Non consensual spectators

Post by mmmmmikke »

Hi,

wondering why anyone can be allowed as spectators? If you made the table can you boot them? Is there a no spectators option?

Accepting that spectators can watch your games is part of playing on BGA. I recall friends-only games being blocked from spectating, but I assume you're not talking about those.

I also don't really like people spectating my games in general (especially when playing solo modes), but I just deal with it. If I think a spectator is trolling or being unsporting I will give them a private red thumb, and that way they won't be able to spectate my games in the future.

I seem to recall that the table creator can boot spectators.

I think red-thumbed players cannot spectate your games, but red-thumbing only for that reason seems an overkill.

1. Watching a game in live play is part of learning the game.
2. BGA seems to encourage jumping in to watch a game. I have clicked "watch a game in progress" a few times from the learn page.
3. Your opponent could be my friend and I just want to "show my face" for a minute as a hello

How can your game play be private? What can anyone do to harm you by watching the play of a game? Why does this bother you? You aren't naked and exposed. No secret info is there.

You do realize anyone can go back and watch every move you have made in every game? This is not someone peeping into your windows as you have sex.

I have wondered a few times where there is a Spector in my games and I just put a message in the game chat and say "hi mmmmikke! What's up?" and have made a friend that way that I still enjoy playing with.

It is unlikely anyone has any nefarious reason to watch your game and no harm can come to you. Maybe change your thoughts about this. Truly unneeded stress to worry about something that can't harm you in any way.

And they only see public informations of the game. In a game with cards in hand, they won't see it so the spectator cannot help your opponent in any way, if it's what you fear. And I agree to previous comment, Spectators are harmless, no need to take care of them (except if they talk badly, then you can red thumb them).
