Newbie question: adjusting amount of players

Is it possible to adjust the amount of players while you are waiting for people to join your table?

For example:
-I start a search for 5 players.
-Only 3 other players show up.
-Play a game with 4 players, instead of the intended 5 players.

You can do what you want by using the "Manual" mode on the "Play Now" lobby. Even if you open the game for up to five players, as the host you can hit "Start" as soon as you get at least the minimum number of players for that game. Out of politeness I would ask the other players if they want to start with fewer (you can't force them to play anyway, but it's a nice courtesy).

I have no idea if you can do this in the new game-specific lobby.
