Hide game log in card/memory based games

Hi All,

I wrote this in a scopa specific forum, but I thought might as well go all out.

The game log ruins card games (or most likely other memory based games). Card games are great because while there is a certain amount of dealers luck, the rest comes down to knowing what was played and when - literally knowing when to hold em, and when to fold em. it is pointless to have the ability to look back through the log and see what has been played. The game comes down to who can read the game log the quickest before time runs out.

I would like to see how many comments are for and against this option. This is just my opinion at the moment, but happy to be shown the benefits of the game log for these kind of games.

Always same answer : hiding log has almost 0 impact on cheaters since you can take note during the game, either manually (if TB) or using a script for you (if live).

Memory cant really be tested.

Turn based, I'd rather be able to know what happened rather than have to vaguely remember something from potentially days ago.

I posit that most traditional card games still have an interesting aspect of probability analysis.

Maybe you will like the game Sea Salt & Paper because it's a card game and the full log is not available.

I agree that the log should be removed. Especially in real time games. No, it will not stop cheaters, nothing can stop cheaters. But it will stop non-cheaters who think the log is part of the game. I actually had a partner in spades tell me they looked for a card in the log before making their play.

Turn-based for sure, especially long matches. I actually just think it could be a setting -> real-time games, no log. turn-based-> log.

Yea I like this comment. Cheaters gon cheat... but im talking about games where the person is literally reading the log for every turn and I asked one player and they said the same - "thats why the log is there, otherwise a child could beat me" , I did reply that most children read to remember things too...*shrug*. I just generally dont see the point of the log at all outside turn based games (or perhaps large multiplayer games).
