It was 4/1 for the website managers when the prank news article was posted. Some people set it to show them time codes in UTC but I don’t. I also watched it post live and laughed because I was 5 hours away in EDT and knew that would particularly confuse ignorant Americans that don’t realize Europe just changed days.
You are mistaken. BGA shows your local time, except in the forums. For example, I am posting this message at 12:54 my local time (US CDT), but BGA will show it as 17:54 (UTC).

You are mistaken, it shows 18:54 (UTC+1), which, as I said, is not France's time either. ;)

We're seeing different times then, because it's showing me 17:54:

Indeed, that seems to be the case:

I wonder if different users are redirected to different servers which have different local times... Or maybe it depends on the browser. I don't think there's any user setting for that.

There is literally just one hour in the whole year when it is 1 April all over the world at the same time!

It's a bit harsh to pick them up for this I think. It was a funny post.

You guys do realise that you can set the Forum Times from your Forum User Control Panel (Up Right), right?

Board Preferences -> My Timezone

Ah, thanks. I suspected there had to be some forum settings, but failed to find it. I think I just clicked on "Profile", saw it was just the general BGA profile and then forgot about the "User Control Panel" link...

That's not true actually. Time zones go from UTC-12 to UTC+14, which spans 26 hours. So when the parts of the world with UTC-12 arrive on April 1st 00:00, some parts are already at April 2nd, 02:00. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_zone).

So there is no possibility that an april fools news message can be posted at a time where it is April 1st everywhere.

Welcome.

When you create a BGA account, you then have to MANUALLY set the location in the Forum Settings (User Control Panel), to be the same as the location from the General Site (the one you set when you create your profile/BGA account).
After that, both your General BGA times, and your Forum times, will be the same. So easy-peasy.

As for that BGA prank, I see it posted at 18:33 (6:33 P.M.) my time, so... if the Dr. Click administrator posted it from France, it must have been 17:33 his time (France is 1 h. earlier than where I am, regardless of UTC+x at that time and place).

But... what if he was in Asia, somewhere? In that case, for him it would have been closer to 1st. of April Midnight, even if he has France set as BGA location.
Otherwise, it was just 17:33 for him, 31st. of March, and the joke was interesting and arguably a tad premature.

PS: You can even set your Forum Data Format, in your Forum User Control Panel (Saturday, 13th. of April, 11 P.M. or A.M. or 23 or etc.), you can set a signature, and many other things.
It's really groovy.

Btw, I would accept AI players if they were highlighted as bot.
