Choice of languages

Hi there, I would like to know what's the logic behind having Spanish and Gallego and not having Portuguese from Portugal and Portuguese from Brazil, which from what I can tell, just creates a wreck in the community translations with people from both variants just adding stuff and making the interfaces confusing for both portuguese and brazilians.

Checking the translation interface confirms my guess: all of the locales available are generic (i.e. not country-specific) languages. I work on a product which has support for country-specific locales, and it is difficult to coordinate fallbacks so that texts which are the same across countries are shared.
