If you disabled the chat then players wouldn't have a reason to get unnecessarily upset and then red thumb you.

I like talking to people. Sometimes I'll ask another player a question and I get annoyed when they don't even answer a word.

If they do some annoying play (especially in coop game), I like knowing why. What they thought at this moment?
It’s often interesting, and I can learn something myself or eventually teach something to them.
If they made a mistake np, but I wish to know/understand. Maybe it was actually my mistake.

But I understand that chat can be distracting (especially on mobile, I guess).
I know one player who asks at the start of the game not to chat because they can't concentrate, but it's in a co-op game, so other players are more willing to accept it.

You can, I give you the answer here: https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewto ... at#p137703 .
But I really don't advise it.

This is what I do. It doesn’t disable chat (to my understanding) just hides it.

I think it’s fantastic.

One easy trick to disable chat...

Now, you can go through the back door and say really bad, mean words. Your opponent will report you. This will have your chat ability disabled and your opponent seeing that you cannot chat, will not chat with you.

Easy peezy almost banned squeezy.
