Profile picture posting sideways

From my search of the forums I might be the only person this has ever happened to, but when I try to use my own image (Google photo on my android device, choosing a correctly oriented picture) it always posts sideways. I've tried my PC, same thing. I've seen others have picture post the right way- any suggestions?

Try making the pic you want to use, closest to a square? (1000x1000 pixels, or any other square-ish dimension).
You can very well set a longer or wider pic, but it will be cut when you upload it (that's what you meant by sideways?).
So try selecting or editing pics so that they are closest to a square, and also, you have 2 mb. size limit (it used to be 1 mb.).
