Looking for a Developer for my card game A Winter Rose

Post by InsertCleverUsername »

I am looking for a developer for my card game A Winter Rose. I am in the process of having the artwork redone; so placeholder icons would need to be used for right now. I am willing to pay $200 Canadian for this; and would be just finishing up the fine tuning of a couple of numbers for the game. I would like it to be well labelled well enough that I can go in and search find the couple of numbers and be able to replace them myself, without bothering you. I have an excel spreadsheet with all of the numbers of the card game saved in it available, and would be able to give the updated graphical content once it is finished. Here is an attached copy of the rules, and I would be happy to walk you through the game repeatedly and explain any questions or comments you may have.

A Winter Rose
Players:
2-6

Materials:
1 deck for 2-3 players, 2 for 4-6 players, plus tokens that represent Insight.

Play Time:
aprox 70 minutes if playing best of 3.

Setup:
Separate the deck(s) into 3 separate decks based on their backs. Grab 3- 5 (more with more players) of the End of Game scoring cards, and put them in the middle for anyone to look at them. Each player also gets a 3 Hope card placed in front of them with 3 tokens placed on it.

Gameplay:
Each of the three decks correlates to a round. The rounds are played in order from smallest value to largest.

At the start of each round deals out the appropriate amount of cards. In the first round, deal five cards to each player from the first deck, then 6 for the second deck and 7 for the third deck. Then place the remaining cards in the centre for each deck. Each round takes place in a series of turns that happen simultaneously. During a turn each player places a card from their hand facedown in front of them. Once all players are ready they each choose to either put the card face up in their tableau or discard it for insight or for a randomly drawn card. Then each player passes their hand to the player on their left.

Tokens placed on top of a card have the value shown on the top of the card they are placed on to, and are 'Insight' that let you aquire other cards through out the game. No tokens can be placed on Patience cards, 2 cards maximum on other suits, except no limit placed on Hope cards. In order to place a card in your tableau you must discard tokens equal to the value of the card you are placing in your tableau. Value or Cost of the card is in the bottom left(right), How much the card gives you from then on is in the top left(right). This part of the card game is still being fine tuned, but the current working numbers are each Season the buy number is bigger than the number it gives you, (Other than Hope), and that the numbers go up more for each later season, with Love always costing two more than the others. So in Season one the cards cost say 2 more, then season 2 they cost 3 more, and season 3 they cost 4 more. Put the tokens in the middle as a discard pile.

Each suit has a different effect.

Patience are points, they help you win at the end of the game. Cards cannot be placed under Patience

Hope get cards ('Insight") placed under them more often. They also only cost there bonus amount to play (right now 2, 3, or 4 respectively) and give you an insight token on them when played, unless you get them from Diligence. When you place a card facedown under a card in your tableau (Resting), take cards from the discard pile and put one facedown under each of your Hope cards. You must do this if you do not have the money "insight" to buy anything.

Kindness let you bless others, and be blessed in return. When you play a Kindness card, First give some 'Insight" in the form of a token to someone that they get to place on top of one of their cards. Then Gain two tokens on top of the Kindness card, and one on top of each of the Hope cards you own. It's like Resting a turn, except you also get to add a card to your tableau, and often a bit of extra money too!

Diligence give you a chance to get another card. When you play one down to your tableau take the top two cards from the centre pile. If you have the money you can buy one of the cards and place it down in your tableau. If not, or you do not want to, you may place one token down on the Diligence card, and one down on one of your Hope cards..

Love cards are unlike regular cards in several ways. Their cost in "Insight" is two more than the standard cost. They act as chameleon cards at the end of the game, and can take the place of whatever suit you play it on. When you place a Love card down, you play it on a card of a different suit, to boost that suit. If played on Hope or Patience, nothing immediately happens, but those cards are now that new point value for the remainder of the game, and in the case of the Patience card, will count as a season 1, 2 or 3 card depending for extra points. That Hope card, and any "insight on top of it, is now at the new value of the base card value plus the love card value. In the case of Kindness, you give an insight away as per usual, and then gain "Insight" on your newly buffed Kindness card, and under each of your Hope cards.
Placing it on an Diligence card lets you go on another adventure, and if you don’t want the extra cards you are offered, the value of the insight token you get is increased (the Love value plus the Diligence card). If you get another Love cards that you want, you can play it on your Hope or Patience cards for the long time benefit.

On your turn instead of playing a card you may discard a card from your hand and take the top card from the centre card. If you can, you must play and pay for the card. If not, discard it.

When all three rounds are over each player scores. First any unused 'Insight' is discarded, but gives one point for every two tokens discarded rounded up. Roses are scored according to 7 points for first stage, 6 for second and 5 for third stage. Add any Love cards that have been put on Patience as points at this point. Then each unclaimed goal cards are dealt out according to who won them, and those points and cards are added to the pile. In case of a tie, 2 less points are given out to each tied person.

10 points for each set of all four suits they have, 10 points for each set of 5 cards of the same suit they have and it counts both ways, so if you have 5 sets of each of the four suits, you would make 5*10 for having 5 sets of 4, plus 4*10 of each group of 5. for a total of 90 bonus points. Having 5 Love cards does Not contribute towards the 10 point bonus in themsleves, though obviously they do help you complete sets.

Total points, and save them the highest score out of 3 rounds is the winner, or you can play to a set total, or one off rounds, depending on group preference.
