Loading Forum Causes Browser to Freeze

For about five days, I've had an issue with Chrome freezing whenever I first try to access the forum. As in I click "Forum" in the main page navigation tabs, and the blank faux wood background loads, but nothing else. I can see a "waiting on www.boardgamearena.com" status message and nothing happens for over a minute. I also can't refresh the page, use the scroll bar, access browser menus, resize or move the browser window, or switch to another browser tab during that time. Once it finally loads, things work fine if I stay in the forum/subforum pages. But if I go back to the main page, then re-enter the forum it happens again. It also happens if I close the browser and restart it. It seems to be a caching issue, but I cannot point to anything that has changed on my end in the past 5 days to alter the behavior.

Only the forum has those issues. The other pages are operating fine.

Hey, have you tried with all Chrome plugins disabled?
I use Chrome too, like the most part of the players (since many browsers are actually based on Chrome) but I never encounter that bug.

This was a solid suggestion. I had already tried disabling one extension I thought might be the culprit and that didn't work. But after your post I tried disabling a different one and it seems to make things behave normally. The concerning thing is that the extension that is slowing things down is the one that filters ads/trackers and malware.

Oh, good to know, but a bit weird.
My browser blocks trackers and adds by default (without a plugin) but I don’t have this issue.

Same issue with Firefox - loading into forum freezes browser for multiple seconds. Started happening about a week ago.
