Recovering karma loss possible?

I got booted from a game because I was winning it. Computer/internet became unstable on final move, i reached the time limit. The player didn't wait, said nothing, just kicked me immediately.

The rewards were arriving from my final play as the log said "mturton quits" (didn't quit, so why does it say that? I have never quit a game. That's just wrong. It should say, correctly, "mturton was booted").

Unfortunately there is no way to report a player for booting someone because they were winning, and not having the simple courtesy to wait a moment after I told him the computer was having a bit of trouble. I have never booted anyone for time.

This results in 10% karma loss, down to 90.

Is there any way to restore that back to 100? It's manifestly unfair.

Your opponent can kick you out of the game if you exceed your time limit.
(They can click on a button to do so, which will give you 20 more seconds before the kick).

10% karma loss is no big deal. Just play 4-5 games without time issue and your 100% will be back.

You gain 1 karma point for completing a game within the time limit, so you'll need to play 10 games to get back to 100%. Shouldn't take long!

No, because they did nothing wrong. They just used one of the available (non-cheating) options to win. You're free to give them a private red thumb to never play against them again, and I may agree it's not good manners. But you never know what are the other players' circumstances (maybe they're in a rush, maybe they don't understand the language, maybe they're just having a terrible day and need some morale boost, even if we think it's petty). Don't put the blame on the other player, maybe there's no one to blame, just consider it a fact of life and move on. As already said, the karma penalty is easy to recover, not a big deal, and we've all gone through it several times.

I agree it's annoying. I got that recently also. I would never quit a game to leave others in the lurch! They should change that verbiage.

I don't even like the message that BGA sends you: "Oooops, it seems that you couldn't finish a game : ("

I know you will probably not agree but if you compare it with chess, playing all your moves within your alotted time is part of the rules. If your clock goes down to zero and your opponent does not claim victory, then the time is ignored. But as soon as he/she points at your clock and tells you (or the referee) that there is no time left, you have lost the game immediately.

At BGA it is the same. If you are over your time your opponents can decide if you lose the game immediately. Why you are over your time does not matter at all (slow play, internet problems, real life,...).

Is this a good implementation by BGA? Maybe not. Could there be better rules? Probably. But such are the rules here and playing according to the rules can never - in my definition - be wrong. You may, however, call such a behaviour rude, unfriendly, not in the spirit of good sportmanship,... - and I might agree, depending on the circumstances.
