Is it possible to stop the '[name] is offline/online' messages?

When I'm slowly playing a game, it's a little distracting to see all these messages scrolling on the gamelog.

When I'm streaming, it feels like a borderline invasion of privacy to have a video recording when certain friends went on/offline whilst I play a game with folk who agreed to actually be on camera etc.

I would ideally like there to be a 'mute messages' mode, where messages won't pop up and notifications don't show, so I can stream without feeling like I might be sharing too much information from my friends.

Yep, this has been one of my most wished for features. I avoid adding friends because of this. I've even trimmed my friends list because it's so obnoxious in game logs.

If you are a Google Chrome user, you can install this extension :

It allows you to remove these messages.
