high ranking player leaving game on purpose

hi.

today i was playing versus a top10 dominion player, and i was clearly winning (second game, first was a tie). i think he leaved the game in progress on purpose, not to loose many elo points. he has 140+ reputation points, it's not a problem for him to loose 10 reputation points, maximum loss according to reputation system.
i think you should modify rules to avoid players (and especially high ranked players) doing this, preserving their elo in incorrect way and nearly 'without problems'.

Hi,

Your opponent should know that it is definitely not a good way to get a good ELO. Each time he is fired from a game he automatically loss 30 ELO points in addition to a reputation penalty (20 points, plus a maximum of 10 additional points with reflexion time).

Because he leaves the game you mentionned he is now below 2000 ELO

elo points loss for being fired is a good idea, but -30elo points is not so much. so, maybe my opponent should know that leaving the game on purpose *is a good way to get a good elo*. his 2000elo rank defeat against my 1500elo rank costs him more than -30elo points. i don't know exactly your elo formula (it's a secret or could you tell me?), but i think his loss is more than -50elo points, or something like this, according to my last victory against a 1880elo that resulted in a +41elo for me (and so -41elo for him).

maybe you should raise the elo penalty (around -100elo). without doing this, high ranking players with not so little reputation - and without a solid moral strength - should choose to be fired in their bad games to minimize their loss, and obviously this is not a good thing.

i don't know your 'k', but i did some calculation and i think his loss is about -47elo points.
so, regarding elo, it's better for him to leave the game.
i think again you should raise the elo penalty for being fired, to avoid this.

Désolé pour mon anglais défaillant, mais il y a plus fourbe, les petits malins qui imposent l'annulation de la partie sans perte de points quand ils estiment à juste titre que leur chance de gagner est faible.

La coîncidence veut toujours que ce soit quand ledit joueur perd et qu'il a quelque chose à perdre en terme de classement.

Certes, cela n'arrive pas souvent... mais ce serait intéressant de voir si certains joueurs en abusent.

-30 ELO is a good minimum penality, and the normal penality must be something like the ELO point if loosing game X 1,5
