Interaction of Veterinarian Sponsor card and X-tokens

I had 4 workers available, non on the support conservation project space. I had the Veterinarian sponsor card. I increased my strength to 8. I could not support 2 projects. Does the veterinarian only work once per turn? I couldn’t find this type of example on bgg

Even an upgraded association card can only perform one of each association action, no matter how many x tokens you use. So with your 8 association and the Veterinarian sponsor in play, you could have done a conservation project with 4 and a university with 4, but not two conservation projects on the same action. With four workers and four x tokens though, you could have done one association action for your first conservation project, saved your x tokens, then did another conservation project on your subsequent action by spending 3 of your x tokens to bring the 1 strength card back to 4. Assuming there was not a break between the two actions, this second conservation project would cost two of your workers instead of one.

If your card was not upgraded, you can’t even do multiple association actions in the same action. So you could add x tokens until it was on 10, and you’d still only get one action with an un-upgraded association card.

The only way to do two conservation projects in a single turn is with the x2 multiplier placed on the Association card. This would work whether the association card was upgraded or not, although you would still need 3 workers total, one for the first conservation project and two for the next one.
