What is a top card for having to return?

Do splayed cards count as all top?

There was a thing where I was supposed to return something from my score pile and then return the same number of TOP card from my board. I deliberately chose to return a 1 because none of my top cards were a 1.

But it returned things that were not the top card.

My only thought is maybe because it was splayed? But it says on the card top card.

Sounds like you're referring to Anatomy? No, only top cards count (it doesn't matter about splays or what's underneath).

Either you must be mistaken, or you should report a bug to me!
