Pass on snapping

According to the designer of the game, snapping is mandatory, but yet on BGA you are allowed to not snap a card if you have it as a bonus.

The same behavior seems to be implemented for card 228 "WAZA Small Animal Program". BGA called the taking of a Small Animal card from the display with the card's effect "Snap". If I recall correctly from my first game of Ark Nova on BGA earlier today, it gave me the option to pass on that "Snap" (although I didn't try to click the "Pass").

This part of the effect isn't worded as optional on the card and in the glossary, so judging by that it shouldn't have been allowed to pass.

However, the issue of card 228 gets a little more complicated due to what seems to me like a mistake in the official FAQ, which I've just posted about on BGG here:
