Why no Platinum league?

I don't understand why Wingspan Arena mode does not have a Platinum league.

I think I've read before, that supposedly there's some formula where the number of players and/or games played from the previous season dictates how many tiers exist in the current season.

I don't understand why there are only 4 tiers for Wingspan either, there are certainly multiple tiers of player in Elite this season which has made skill-based matchmaking underwhelming.

So Kingdomino has less players but more players.
