I can't play Release of Patents even though my Sponsor card is at 5

Please help. I don't know what other requirements are there. I can play the other sponsor cards on my hand just fine, but when I mouse over the Release of Patents one, it's greyed out.

Most likely because you have more than 25 appeal. There are a few "early game" sponsors that can't be played once you go past 25 appeal.

Yes. I think that's it. I was wondering what that 25 number meant on the side and I read the whole rules book several times over. I just wish they actually wrote out that limitation in the body text, like they did with everything else the card does.

A nice trick here to get under 25 appeal is to play a “release into the wild” conservation project first, assuming you’re not too far from that 25 appeal target. I like to combo a release card before an under-25 sponsor and have pulled it off more than a few times. This can be particularly great with Native Lizards or Native Seabirds, assuming you aren’t slacking on building your zoo.
