Do you have one that you find really strong ?

I think it is very situational. Duplicate cards are very strong. Some 1 power cards are weak, but very strong if you have make-up artist. I saw a thread on BoardGameGeek attempting to make a tier list, but it still depends on the situation to me.

I’ve played this game several times and it makes absolutely no sense to me. I thought I was doing pretty good against my opponents and then the game just decides no you lose and I don’t understand why. My opponent gets the ability to stack practically endless cards on top of one another in their bench so they never reach the end and I never get the option even though I have the same cards. :/

I’m playing on mobile so I don’t know if there’s some error in functionality

This is a game that heavily tends towards luck. You can influence that luck slightly, but you just have to play a few dozen games at most to know the best strategy.
Luck is in the options you have in the deck phase, and in the order that your cards are being played. You can influence that a bit, by strategically using the redraw options, but if your opponent gets 2 sets of 2 or more rare cards, you’ve basically lost.

Cards are stacked if they are the same, so try to have not too many unique cards in your deck.
You have to balance that against the possibility that you run out of cards, so you also can’t have too few cards in your deck.

I think about 7-8 unique cards is probably max. You can increase this when you have cards that move cards to the discard, but again, this depends on luck. If you get those too early, you’re out of luck, and may lose.
(This is based mostly on 2p games, it might differ a lot for larger games)

Your opponent must have been very lucky to get "practically endless" copies of the same few cards!

If you're not getting the option to reach the end of your deck, it probably means you're running out of room on your bench. The bench has slots for six DIFFERENT cards - copies of the same card can share the same slot. This means that if you have too many different cards in your deck, you won't get a chance to play them all. To account for this issue, there are three different things you can do:
- Focus on getting duplicate cards that can occupy the same slots on your bench.
- Cull weaker cards out of your deck. The game always gives you this option at the end of each Deck Phase, just after you draft new cards.
- Draft cards like Butler that can remove cards from your bench.

One of the really nice things about this game is that the meta is self-correcting to an extent. If everyone is highly valuing the same cards and picking them even as one-ofs, then that strategy becomes less viable. If every player grabs MUA/A.I. whenever they see it, then everyone is less likely to get duplicates and the player that pivots to something else is going to perform the best.

General advise, curate your deck. If you have more that 7 unique cards then you’re unlikely to get a chance at using them all. Drop cards that aren’t individually strong or fail to work with the rest of your deck when you have the chance.

Duplicates are good. Because you can stack up duplicates on the bench individually weak cards are much better if you have more of them. A deck of 70 newcomers would be hard to beat at any point in the game.

Specific advice?

It seems like the carnival set is by far the best. It’s cards all seem to empower each other, or manipulate what the next draw is, or give you bonus fans, or just be a high number, or multiple of those. All great things. Maybe it’s a lucky streak but any time I focus on that set I win far more than I loose. While any other set seems to even out into luck. If the set is that much better than anything else I hope they get some better balance the next time around. Focusing on a single set is already advantageous because of the duplicate advantages. So having one set just be flat better than anything else is a problem.
