Do you lose the appeal from the "Pack" ability if you release an animal with it?

In a recent IRL game, I played a New Zealand Sea Lion which netted me 6 base appeal and 3 bonus appeal from its pack ability since I had two other predator tags in my zoo at the time.

Later on, I release the sea lion to the savannah project. Do I lose 6 appeal or 9 appeal?

I haven't encountered this situation in a BGA game to see how the mechanics handle it, which is why I'm asking here.

The game does not keep track of where each animal is placed, or what the situation was when it was played, so you can only lose the "direct" points.

You only lose the animal’s actual appeal, not any bonus appeal from animal abilities or sponsors, and not any of the animal’s reputation or CP bonuses either.
