Hey guys,
Do we have statistics on the most winning map in Ark Nova (from maps 1-8)?
And can I see it in my own statistics?
Cheers!
Nope you cant
Can
you (as the developer)?
I'd be very interested in some map performance stats. It would be really great if you would include that in the public stats! Preferably not only the win rates of the maps, but also the VP difference to the average of the opponents.
The problem with statistics is that there are tons of relevant factors to filter. Player count is probably another important factor, as I have noticed some maps perform better at different player counts. Raw win rate without any other factors analyzed probably wouldn’t tell us much more than the metas that currently dominate the game. If all you want is to take the temperature of the groupthink to find its reigning meta, you can simply take a trip to Board Game Geek. Spoiler: most everyone there thinks Silver Lake is the strongest map by far. (My own contention, which I have already mentioned there, is that this is only in 2 player games, and that Ice Cream Parlors is stronger in 4 player games.)
Btw, there’s nothing stopping you from taking a random cross-section of games to figure this out yourself. Just make sure it’s completely random, so as to avoid bias. Avoid games you are in to make sure you’re not blinded by your own biases, as it is hard to see the grip of a meta you are currently subscribing to. Data collection may be a challenge, sure, but then you have the satisfaction of seeing the real shape of the statistics develop. Something like 25 games at each player count for 100 games total. Pick them randomly so that you’re not hunting for all good+ skill levels etc. Although it would also be interesting to see how skill level affects these stats.
