Use die to discard tile

Post by Pelops38 »

Hi,

I can't find the solution anywhere.

If your storage space is full (3 tiles), do you have to use a die to discard a tile from the storage space?

Thank you for your reply.

Hello. If your storage is full, you can always take/buy more tiles if you want to without any restrictions, except that you have to first discard a tile to make room for the new tile.

To discard a tile you don't need to use a dice at all. You just first click on the tile you want to discard and then proceed with taking a new tile with one of your dice or by buying a tile without using a dice. Then you will simply replace the old tile with your new tile.

You are not allowed to discard the just newly taken/bought tile right away. But you can for example in your turn discard any tile to take/buy a new tile, then discard any tile again (including the tile you just took/bought in your previous action) to take/buy another new tile and then discard any tile once again to take/buy another new tile (once again including the tile you just took/bought in your previous action).
Just remember, only one buy per round.

This might in many people's eyes look like a horrible decision sequence, but there are rarely situations coming up in Phase E, where doing exactly this can be the strongest move! But it's mainly a thing in 2 player games, when you have nothing serious to finish anymore and your opponent still has a (couple of) big project(s) in progress. That's bad planning on the opponents side(s) to give you the option of blocking all their big projects in Phase E. This should only happen in like 2% of the games I assume.
