Benefits of chatting in games

Post by zoomboom »

I enjoy seeing even a simple "gla" (good luck all!) or "gg" or "good game" in the chatbox while playing games. Or other congratulatory or complimentary messages. Even these simple messages help foster good will and makes games more fun. Why not take half a second to share good will with those you play with? Or more time if you're up for it! Plus, chatting among players can actually be a big part of some games!

Thoughts?

Remeber that not everyone knows English, and google translator isn't able to translate these (or similar) abbreviations. Thus if you play with non-native speakers it might be better to use the pre-written BGA messages.

Language is a source of misunderstanding. (Antoine de Saint-Exupery: The Little Prince) But it is also the source of understanding - it all depends on how you use it. :-)

Newbie here. Where does one find these pre-written messages?

I find it funny. I typically grab the pre-written "Good luck and have fun!" message at the beginning of games, and then they often write back "enjoy" or have fun". Like they're not going to wish me luck and somehow that will have an effect on my luck. I mean, I don't want them to have better luck than me either, but it's just something to say.
