How are points determined for ranking in arena games? Sometimes I'll lose by a little and get -24 other times I win by 100 and get +15. Is it posted anywhere?

It doesn't matter by how much you win or lose, only your whether you win or lose and the different of your Arena scores (not the in-game scores).

So how do you get the most points? By beating someone who is close to you in arena points, by beating someone who has way more arena points than you, or by beating someone who has way fewer arena points than you?

Just like ELO, the more unlikely the result, the more points won/lost.

Therefore a high ELO/Arena rated player beating a low rated player is expected, so not many points are won/lost, but if the low rated player wins, that is not expected, so the resulting points won/lost are much higher.

So the relative point scaling (if not the exact points) is how common sense would dictate.

That means you would gain the most points in a single game by beating the highest rated arena player.
