Any Local Development Platform for BGA?

This is the primary reason why I don't mind making some bugfixes or minor changes, but wouldn't implement a new game. The fact that I can't even use Version Control directly is a deal breaker for me. For some reason reminds me of old days of developing with Notepad.

Not sure what you mean. You can (and should) use version control (i.e github)
The fact that its not part of bga - its actually not big deal at all. Yes it would be nice to have integrated remove dev env, but definely not deal breaker
(I used my own git for last 7 years).

How do you work with other people on the same project then?

You have several options :
- share one repo if you dont work at the same time of the day : I do that on couple light games where I splitted front/back end with another dev
- have a separated repo with a similar name like "arknovatisaac" and :
- either have another branch where you rename "arknova" to "arknovatisaac" : you just need to rebase from time to time to take into account what the other one did. Thoun has been doing that on KoT with success
- or use a script that rename on the fly : I am personnally doing that on all my shared projects, using a small bash script that will find and rename before running rsync. The only downside is that rsync is slower than a good old "upload on save" plugin on vscode for instance
