How does Map6 (Research Institute) work?

Game 392676608 - I have connected the research institute with a sponsor building only. Maybe that is the problem.
If its not, I would have expected to play the Sumatra Tiger from hand:
Space4 - check
two microscopes - check
money - check (not anymore, but when I tried to play it)
2 water connections - only one, therefore the research institute

Still the card was unplayable grey, so I am missing one important rule.....

Water/rock adjacency is a requirement, not a condition(like upgraded animals). If you could choose to ignore requirement you could choose to not pay for the animal or not put it in an enclosure
