Friendly Mode Frustration

I almost never want to play in Friendly Mode. But when I start games with friends from the Play Now screen, about half the games default to friendly mode. I don’t want it! When the site doesn’t open up the configuration screen, I don’t know if friendly has been picked or not.

I don’t really understand the game starting process any more. I might get vectored from the Play Now screen to the setup screen or I might not. I might have to press Start Game. Or not. Generally these are turn based and my invitee is offline.

In the play now screen for each game, I’ve set my preferences to “never want to play in friendly mode”. But I just finished an “auto-match” game that didn’t adjust my ELO. I look at my preferences for the game it says “never want to play in friendly mode”.

Am I the only one? I browsed the bug reports and didn’t see anything related.

Go the the Play Now page and switch from Automatic to Manual in the top right corner. Hope this helps!

Speaking of the Play Now page, i used to have it set at a default of Simple-Turn Based - Manual.

Then I was out for a few months and now I'm having to reset each one of those preferences each doggone time I search for game offerings... even if the last time I looked was a few minutes ago. How can I correct this? (I did skim the recent thread titles to see if this was covered already but didn't see anything.)

Thanks, Cigma. I would have thought that “I never want to play in friendly mode” (or however it is exactly phrased) would have taken care of it. C’est la vie.
