Blacktango, respectfully, I think you are missing the point. The plan is to eliminate the old lobby at some point. I am against this. I would rather eliminate the new lobby. When you support keeping the new lobby, it is a vote against the old, and agreeing it should and will go away.

I am afraid you are right, Wreckage.

Well, I think the intention of the new lobby is good: to help newcomers to find out how to play the game they want.

Because honestly, BGA's interface is a bit old, and nowadays, people don't use to search to find something. They actually use what we give to them, or just ask other people before any search.
This is my opinion, based on a specific game with an old forum that is still active and contains a very important knowledge base, with a new discord server. People used to ask their question on Discord before they even searched on the forum.
Result: they actually get a faster answer, because the Discord server is very active, but the same people answer the same questions over and over again. (This also happens on BGA's forum, actually : )

That said, I don't see any good reason to use the new lobby if you know the old one.
Maybe it would be better to teach people how to use it, rather than trying to make the two coexist.
IMO, this is too much hard work, especially if you want both to have all the features. Because it means that if you add a new feature, you have to integrate it into both interfaces.

Many professional applications propose a tutorial, and I think a tutorial to present how to use the old lobby would be very useful: how to add game to favorites, how to switch between arena, turn base mode, etc.

Card games are board games too!

I'm not the biggest fan of card games either, but my assumption is that, they are (relatively) easy to develop, that's why people go for it, it is not the BGA team who develop the games (mostly) but volunteers.
Please, show me the board in German Whist, Toepan, Sergeant Major, Mighty, Rummy, Two-Ten-Jack, Schnapson, Ecarte, Durak,Kings in the Corner, Cucco and Calypso. Why am I paying membership for a Board game site that makes Card games? There are plenty of free Card game sites out there.

It's usually under the cards, shown as a wooden texture on BGA :D
BGG has card games as a board game category: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgamecate ... /card-game

But, if we're getting picky, how is this related to "New lobby (integrated to game page)"?

I don't know why you are paying, but here are the features you pay for: https://boardgamearena.com/premium Nowhere does it say "get your favorite games implemented" or "choose what volunteer developers should work on".

The new lobby is still fundamentally broken. It doesn't fulfil the basic use case of creating a table and sending links to my friends to join the table. The links simply do not work and if you create the table in the new lobby there's no way to get the direct link to it like the old lobby does by copying the link from your active games page.

It's absolutely maddening there are huge issues with it that never seem to be addressed nor fixed.

1. They are not Board Games, period.
2. I believe the paying members should have more privileges of choosing which games the BGA site should develop. For $38 I want Board Games just like the Site Name BGA, not Card Games!

By that token, Carcassonne, Splendor, 6 nimmt!, Hanabi, Kingdomino, Gizmos, Yahtzee, Decrypto, Welcome To (just no name a few of the most popular names), are not board games either.

I joined at the start of July 2023. I've no idea what a 'new' or 'old' lobby is. I probably don't care. BGA seems to be a reasonably navigable site. I can switch from "play now" to "arena". I can find games, and get suggestions for new games I might want to try. There are some things 'hidden' that I would have expected to be more readily accessible, like ELO rankings, but once you know to toggle the current arena ranking view to all time rankings, it's there. The FAQ is remarkably good. The wiki for both basic rules but also strategy tips is useful (although for the latter, they aren't easy to get at).

Finally, I don't think I see anything called 'lobby'. There's the landing page with various game suggestions by theme with some handy filters. There's the Play Now page which is really easy to see what games are available and quickly join.

Please consider new joiners who will never have known the 'old lobby' and would likely be confused if two parallel views/systems existed.
