Bring back Turn Based "No Time Limit + Friends Only"

I was just playing Decrypto with my real life friends and we were having a blast but all of us ended up with the penalty symbols for no reason, given we were all ok with the time we took for the game.
This just detracts from the previous experience we used to have in this amazing website.

You can open the table as turn-based or change to it later in order to avoid time penalty symbols. You can still play it like real-time.

Exactly! Why are we being punished because some people couldn't figure out how to set up their game correctly!!!!!

As a disabled gamer who relied on this function to be able to play - and I am a very competitive player.

Myself and my family have all canceled our premium memberships until this is reinstated.

Walks outs and strikes work as it shows them we are seriously unhappy with the discrimination we are facing.

I recommend that everyone who has been impacted negatively or who wants to be an ally to also please cancel your membership and cite this as the reason.

Am I correct in inferring from this thread that there is already a mechanism for fighting ELO abuse in the form of ELO resets?

If so that makes this change's explained reasons even more galling.

Just figured I'd revive this thread to say I'm still unhappy this feature was removed for no logical reason (that has been explained). There seems to be a spate of people not wanting to play with the pressure of time limits lately, and while they don't specifically mention wanting ELO, I imagine some may. Users are definitely still looking for a more relaxed mode of play in as far as time limits and penalties, and some of us would also like those games to be eligible for our ELO score.

I've cancelled mine and my mum's too for the same reason. Will subscribe again happily if this is fixed.

Just popping in to say that I still want this back as well.

Even if I don't care that much about my ELO, it does bug me to still be rated Beginner after having played a game several times. And having that rating means getting extra turn time, which isn't really fair considering I do know that game and the interface.

After reading a post in another thread it made me wonder if this thread is serving as an "elevator door close button." It's a place for people to vent (press the button), but there's no actual functionality attached to it, i.e., there is never going to be any further response by BGA to anything said here (except moderating inappropriate content).

I suspect they aren't going to do anything about it, though that said, the leadership team of BGA will change over time and maybe priorities will eventually shift. I personally feel like it's worth posting every now and again, because for one, people may become aware of the bug and vote for it, and for two, if this thread does stop getting posts, they'll be able to say, well, no one cares anymore, and definitely not change it. I'm resigned to the fact that in the short-term, this isn't going to change (and frankly, what it's meant is my slower-playing friends have requested to play less games because they feel bad about the penalties they incur), but maybe someday, someone in charge might decide it should.
