Limit to amount of turn based games

Post by WolfRose1 »

I noticed there's a limit to the amount of turn based games. It says that you get a new slot when you finish a game. My question is, Is there a place where it lists your current max amount of turn based games? :?:

I don't know a place where it lists your current max amount of turn based games. But I think that there are players with at least 100 turn-based games at the same time. This seems to depend on your playing experience on BGA. So hopefully you can join more games after some time (maybe after you finished 50 games?). Sorry that I can't tell you for sure...

Yes from what I remember when I joined, you start off being allowed a small number of turn-based games (maybe even just 1), and each one you finish lets you run one more concurrently. I'm not sure when that stops though. After a while I just stopped noticing any limits, but it took me a while to ramp up to my normal speed now (which runs about 50-60 concurrent games). I'm pretty sure I've seen people with several hundreds of games (like 400 seems like a number I have seen), so I assume at some point it just hits unlimited. But as cigma says, keep playing, you'll eventually not notice it.

When I started on BGA I run into same issue. I remember I joined a 6 player game and it took ages to finish. There was no hint warning me that I need to ramp up first.

What I did yo solve the issue: Went premium

This page tells you what you'll get with premium membership: https://boardgamearena.com/premium?src=playerpage It doesn't say anything about the number of games you can play.

True! 3 years ago I asked this question in this forum and got no answer and so I found out by myself!

I wish that BGA had an option to stop reducing your rating if you are admitted to the hospital for a couple of days and you have no means or ability of logging on. I was at a 100 percent rating and had to go to emergency room and was admitted for a couple of days and my rating went down to 20% and now trying to raise it back up but it is a long and tedious job because I am allowed only 5 games at once. Would like to see a change for seniors like me who have medical problems and use BGA to keep occupied. Thanks.

But how would BGA know? I know you could tell them after the fact, but wouldn't everyone who disappeared for a few days then just say they had a very good reason? So then you say, everyone can only have one instance of "I had a good reason" every 6 months. Then you get people where it happens two or three times complaining it isn't fair because they have had a string of bad luck, which it isn't, but it's hard to differentiate between someone who had a good reason, and someone who is just not holding up their end of things.

Although, I wonder if they could do something like saying you sacrifice a couple of your holiday jokers to remove penalties caused by an absence (eg. remove all penalties accrued in the last week or something). Obviously when it's an unexpected absence, getting a holiday joker in place is the least of your thoughts, but if you give them up afterwards, it's kind of the same. And as you only get 4 per year, you could only do that twice before running out anyway. Maybe something to suggest in the suggestions forum. I do agree that it's a frustrating situation for you, but it's similarly frustrating to play against people who just vanish (not you, but ones who do it for no good reason).

Honestly, I would prefer someone using a holiday joker after the game has been canceled to not get the negative karma over having them use a holiday joker in a game that's currently running and having it put on hold for 4 days.
