Skippable if you've played "Photosynthesis"?

Post by Octothorpe »

Reading through the description... the only thing that sounded different was the largest forest bit. If you like — but aren't obsessed with — Photosynthesis and like plant games, is it worth your time?

It’s a very different feeling.
For one thing, everyone plays on a separate board, so there is none of the aggressive interaction you can find in Photosynthesis. The game feels like an efficiency puzzle you attempt to solve on your own.
On the other hand, you do have some interaction in the drafting phase, which lead everyone on a different path for that efficiency puzzle.

I found it’s also more satisfying to look at the board at the end and see something you have built.

I own and like Photosynthesis. I don’t absolutely adore it, but the physical game is gorgeous and a fun way to get people to sit and play. This game feels like they took photo and added an extra layer, with the card play, the special moves, etc. I like it. I think it is worth a try or two at least.

I think this one is more streamlined and overall a more satisfying experience.

Give it a try. I prefer Evergreen, I own the physical game and I'm waiting for the expansion Cactus and Pines.
