I'll get over it. I mean, there's plenty of awards I'll never get from before I joined the site, plenty of awards I'll never get for games I'll never play, plenty of awards I'll never get for games I DO play but suck at...
But for now I'm just upset that I wasn't aware the event was even happening, and therefore missed out in participating on Day 1. Previous years started in July, and this one started in August, so I was not expecting it. The timezone thing is also very easy to forget about, with this being a site that reaches players across the entire world. It's not reflected well on the website, and you only get a reminder that it's a thing by either being too early for a day, or too late.
Players are asked to enjoy, and take part in, a month-long event and get rewards all month long, so to permanently miss out on rewards during the event can be frustrating. I think it would be more fun if there was some way to make up for missed days and maintain your streak while the event is ongoing. Maybe something where, if you missed opening the chest for a game, playing that game for the first time or a few times would still give you credit for the day you missed. Something that would further encourage players to give new games a try and remain invested in the event.
