I have been having some bad luck lately at my tables of Beyond the Sun. I'll create a table for '2 Moves per day' and get someone who only checks the table once a day.
I recently had a 3rd person join a table and start the game, the 2nd player went first and took their move within 5 minutes. The third player, who had joined the table not 5 minutes prior, then didn't take their first turn for over 24hours.
I proceeded to wait for this player to frequently take 14-20 hours to take their turn for a several days (sometimes they got lucky with the time player 2 finished their turn and actually played relatively quickly, banking some time) until they used up their banked time and I kicked them.
I thought it was just a bad luck one time thing, but a couple games later I got another player that timed out and had to be booted. Recently I started another game and had a player take 18 hours to make their first move. I don't understand why someone would join a '2 turns per day game' if they don't have time to actually make a move until the next evening.
Is there something I can do to avoid this? These players have 100% karma when they join so Karma limits don't help. I don't like having multiple tables of the same game going as they blur together and I lose track of what my strategy was in each.
Is the problem with my expectations and the culture of BGA is more accepting of people regularly taking longer turns? I choose '2 moves per day' as I consider it reasonable for me to be able to make my move within 12 hours of my turn. I haven't gone to '3 moves per day' because if it becomes my turn shortly after I go to bed or start work I won't be able to take my turn within 8 hours, but if that is more the culture of BGA maybe I should try that instead.
Or maybe I have just had a string of bad luck.
