"friendly" match clarification

Post by mturton »

Played two "friendly" matches with no time limit, no rank, etc. First one was 3-player, with one friend and another player not a friend. If one player is not a friend, does the game default to a match with ELO gains/losses? It appeared to.

Yes, "friendly mode" means no ELO gains/losses, it does not take into account whether the other players are in your friend list or not.

But i lost ELO after both "friendly" matches. I must have accidentally swiped it back to fast match. *Sigh*

I'm currently playing a friendly match. We're at the last turn. One of the player simply doesn't play (it's been about 10 min now). There is no time limit, so we can't kick him out. Do I get a karma penalty if I exit the game?

Nope, that's one of the main points of friendly (and half the reason they restricted no time limit to friendly only).

When you say "swipe" it back are you referring to the new fancy interface with all the sliders etc?

Yes. It's now three of the last four times I played a "friendly" match I have accidentally hit the slider and moved it to FAST somehow. There needs to be some kind of lock effect or button so that this doesn't happen.

There is. :) To the right of the slider bar you can lock your speed preference.

That doesn't lock your speed preference, that indicates whether you are flexible in your speed preference for joining a game. It doesn't stop you accidentally changing your speed when setting up a game (not that this is a problem I've had, but it's what mturton is complaining about).

I figured out what the problem was when setting up a game with wife and kids last night. When I add people off my friends list, I click on AVAILABLE and the drop down menu appears. As I move down that on my tablet, my pinky slides over the FAST part of the slider menu, moving the slider to that position.

Needs a lock button for FRIENDLY match.
