Quit tournament

Post by CB Droege »

It should be possible to forfeit your place in a tournament.

I joined a tournament because it looked fun, but didn't check closely enough the game settings, and now I'm stuck playing 20 turn-based matches of a version of the game that I don't like to play. Yes, I should have paid more attention when signing up, that's on me, BUT now that I'm in, my options are:

Play 20 matches of a game I don't like
or
Stop showing up to the games, take TWENTY game time-out penalties AND annoy everyone else in the tourney

There should be a third option to just drop out. I'm certain that somewhere in the standard rules for Swiss style tourneys, there is somethign about how to handle players who cannot (or do not wish to) complete their matches.

ALSO: I'm not alone. There are a handful of other people in the tourney who have posted to the tourney page asking if there is a way out because they don't like the settings.

(A corollary suggestion: The settings for the game should be at the top of the tourney description page, not buried at the bottom.)

I agree- I don't really remember clicking to enter the tournament, and no I don't have the option to play the Chocolatier version of Azul that is my preference. I have to wait months for it to end to play what I paid a membership for??

This thread is from 3 years ago, the suggestion mentioned has been implemented and from what I recall, there is a big red button on the main tournament page that allows you to withdraw from a tournament (there is a small karma penalty for this).
