You have to be a strong player that actually cares about elo for you to want change. This is the minority so I wouldn't doubt most people are ok w/ the current system but that doesn't take away the fact that it is bad. People already abuse the system currently so that isn't a valid reason to keep the system as is.Stroom wrote: ↑01 September 2023, 18:21I don't know how BGA has implemented team games. Probably it is one of the ways I explained before.ChiefPointThief wrote: ↑01 September 2023, 14:43 I don't know what you mean. There are several team games on bga (spades for one).
Tell that to the countless players who have been asking for change for yrs. Also it isn't a rough estimate because what it does is keep everyone's elo closer than what it should be making players appear equal when they really aren't. This is why there are really no "strong players" in spades. The only way to achieve this is to constantly partner w/ a equally strong player. If you are good you can reach strong status but it won't be maintained playing w/ the field. If you play with a weaker teammate you receive less elo for wins and lose more for losses when it should be the opposite.
And there are countless players who are fine with how it is at the moment. Probably even more. You can't really make it work much better as there are different way to boost one's elo score. Just play with friends or tell in chat what cards each player has. Any system can and will be abused. So just don't bother.
So I will say you get +6 pts for winning w/ a 100 elo in hanabi just to fit this example. That is 12pts total for the team. We played and you only got +2 but I am almost 800 elo. What the current system for team games does on bga is give the 100elo player 10 out of 12 of the team pts and you would get 2. Why play with the 100elo player in your position if you can get the same pts playing w/ an 800elo player? In a loss you would also lose 10pts out of the 12. So pts are constantly taken from stronger players and given to weaker players bringing the true rating of strong players down and rising weaker players giving the illusion that everyone is almost equal.
