This is definitely a bug - or more accurate it looks like a complete mix-up. It gave wrong answers to every single verifier.

I think it's not a bug since you are in the nightmare mode.

It's nightmare mode, you don't know which verifier goes where.

Given the solution:
A: B+Y+P is odd
B: Y < 3
C: B+Y > 6
D: Y < P

I did not know I was in nightmare mode; how can I tell in the future if this is the case?

It's one of the settings before you start the game. Just pay attention to that and you'll be fine.
