I'm being stalked by strangers to play, cannot disable Invitation

So I was invited to a 4 player table in one of my favorite games with 3 individuals I don't know. I might have played one of them once or twice. It seems like a set-up, I have no interest, I've seen people play as a team against others in the past, avoid it. I kept hitting Snooze rather than outright refusing, assumed they'd cease & desist. Now the invite to a Turn-based game pops up constantly. I finally just hit the "X" instead of snooze & hope that means the invite will be dropped. Can anyone comment, if that's not dropped how do I refuse to play? (PS-- I already gave a thumbs down based on "personal opinion" to all 3 inviting parties. That wasn't enough.)

That seems a bit paranoid. All they did is invite you to play a game. I'm not sure why you didn't just decline it to begin with (why hit snooze?).

Maybe the reason the invitation kept popping up is because you hit snooze and didn't refuse it.

You didn't keep being reinvited by those people. You snoozed the invited, and once the time was up it came out of sleep.

Well, then my question is, How do I decline? I hit the "X" button but I'm never dropped from the invitation. It's a pointless waste of my time. It's not "paranoia", I'm not interested in playing with a group of people I don't know (unless they come up randomly in Manual) . . . I hit the x but can't leave the game, they're not taking the message that I will NEVER join. So the coercive aspect feels uncomfortable to me.
